On Monday, Junior and Senior Infants classes had two very special visitors - Station Officer John and Firefighter Seán from Dublin Fire Brigade.
They came to talk about fire safety, the role of firefighters in our community and schools and how they do their work. Seán dressed up in his full breathing attire which really impressed the children.
They also spoke about the school fire drill and the importance of smoke alarms in the home. They used a real smoke alarm and let the children hear the noise when it is activated, in the event of a fire.
A huge thank you to Dublin Fire Brigade and John and Seán!
Friday, 11th November brought the first Dublin 15 Educate Together Schools Quiz to Hansfield ETNS.
Organised by Joe, we were joined by Castaheany, Castleknock, Powerstown and Tyrrellstown Educate Together schools for a clash of minds.
Teams were seated at tables while quiz master maestro Joe read out the questions.
After 4 rounds of team mind searching and collaboration, it was Castleknock ETNS who reigned supreme.
A huge thank you to Joe for setting the questions and organising this fun event. In addition, thank you to the teachers from all the schools who helped out on the day and to all the pupils who participated.
Congratulations to the winners Castleknock ETNS!
Each Junior Infants pupil has a 6th Class BUDDIE! Pupils from 6th Class come and spend time with Junior Infants pupils and share their knowledge, experience and friendship.
There have a few such events since September including a playground day, nature walk and learning to use to IPAD.
It is a wonderful experience for both the older and younger children, connecting and learning from each other.

Organised by Vinaya from the PTA, there was a once-off family coding workshop called "Our Kids Code", conducted by the National Parents Council (NPC) in association with Trinity College and Science Foundation Ireland. The workshop was aimed at families with children aged between 7 and 10, to have a positive basic computer learning experience as a family. The families learnt how to code a game of "Rock Paper Scissors" on the MakeCode platform, which they could download onto a "microbit" and play amongst each other.
Today, on World Teachers' Day, we celebrate our teachers here at Hansfield ETNS.
Our wonderful PTA, laid out a delicious spread of scrumptious cakes and treats for our teachers on their special day.
A huge shout-out to all Hansfield teachers and, of course, our wonderful PTA.
Each class performed their own special assembly for all classes in their school group. You can find a video of your child's assembly on your class webpage.
However, to have a short preview of all of our performances, click on the videos below. We also have a short video of the Hansfield Peace Proms Choir 2022.

Today, Hansfield Educate Together hosted the inaugural Dublin 15 Sports Blitz. We were joined by Tyrrellstown, Powerstown, Castleknock and Castaheany Educate Together Schools for a full day of basketball games. All schools were represented very ably by some excellent and skilled basketball players. Some very intense games ensued, followed by some close results on the score cards.
At the end of a long, hot day of games, Castaheany ETNS were victors in both the boys and the girls category! Congratulations to Castaheany!!🏀🏀
All schools should be very proud of themselves, displaying exemplary behaviour and talent in abundance! Thanks to all the players on the day.
