Clash of the hansfielders

We had a wonderful spectacle of sporting prowess this morning when 6th Class pupils took on their teachers in a basketball game.

It was an amazing event for players and spectators alike. A veteran player, in the name of Fergal, joined the teachers after half-time much to the delight and cheers of the crowd.

The end score was..... no one was counting, it was such good fun!!!

Farewell to Fergal

Today, the children of Hansfield bid farewell to Fergal in their own special way. They hosted a special assembly with music and song, advice for retirement, messages from past and present pupils, gifts and much love and thanks to a very very special principal.

The children will miss Fergal so much but will hold the fondest of memories of him in the years ahead.

The Class of 2023 Graduation

There was many a tired person here today following last night's graduation ceremony for the Class of 2023.

There were speeches, certificate presentations, music, dance and memory videos, all of which made the night so special.

Fergal and teachers spoke of their admiration of and pride in this wonderful group of pupils. They have watched them grow over their years in primary school and rejoice in the wonderful young people they have become.

We are sad to lose the Class of 2023 but wish them every success and happiness in what lies ahead.

Réalt Áras Graduation

Last night, we celebrated for the first time ever the graduation of our pupils from RÁ. What a bittersweet evening it was. Having spent many wonderful years at Hansfield, Aaran, Lily, Saibh, Lexi, Stacey, Jake and Skye are moving on to pastures new. It has been such a joy to have the children in our school. We are so proud of them, will miss them but wish them every happiness in as they move forward.

Congratulations to all the children and thank you for being such a huge part of Hansfield and contributing so much to our school and community.

Basketball champions

Our champions!!

Victory for
Hansfield!

Today Hansfield ETNS had much to celebrate.

Our wonderful basketball teams, both the boys and the girls, won the Dublin Primary Schools Mini-basketball League in their divisions.

Two magnificent finals with the boys winning by 27 points to 23 and the girls by an amazing 24 points to 4.

The atmosphere was electric at the National Basketball Arena with classmates and family and friends cheering them on.

Well done to all our players and their coaches, Laura and Joey. You did us all proud today.

4th Class in 'Fighting Words'

As part of our Creative School's initiative, Kathy's 4th Class attended a workshop in Fighting Words in the city centre on 02/03/2023. The whole class were involved in writing this wonderfully funny story of 'The Talking Dog and Mouldy Cheese'.... (click to read....)

Hansfield pupils perform at the NCH

It was an honour to represent Hansfield ETNS at the National Concert Hall this week!

We were one of nine schools to take part in the Primary Ensemble Project in collaboration with Royal Irish Academy of Music and the National Concert Hall.

Our violin teacher and conductor, Aleyna, worked really hard with us every week since September, to make sure that we knew how to play 'As It Was' by Harry Styles and the traditional piece 'Amazing Grace'.

Tutors from the Royal Irish Academy of Music visited us during the last few months to help us prepare for our performance on stage at the National Concert Hall.

Thanks to everyone who supported us especially Fingal County Council through the Musician in Residence scheme which helped us to establish and develop our ensemble.

It was an amazing experience to perform for our family and friends on one of the most prestigious stages in the country!

'The DIg' at Hansfield

You may remember last year that Draíocht sent us the 'Playground Orchestra'! Well this year they sent us a piece of theatre called 'The Dig'. All our classes attended this entertaining performance.

It told the story of Mac who all his life had wanted to be an Archaeologist, to be an expert in finding things and working out what they mean. If only he could stick to the facts and not get carried away with his highfalutin stories. Mac shares his thougts and ideas with the children and the fun begins....
