Hansfield pupils perform at the NCH It was an honour to represent Hansfield ETNS at the National Concert Hall this week! We were one of nine schools to take part in the Primary Ensemble Project in collaboration with Royal Irish Academy of Music and the National Concert Hall. Our violin teacher and conductor, Aleyna, worked really hard with us every week since September, to make sure that we knew how to play 'As It Was' by Harry Styles and the traditional piece 'Amazing Grace'. Tutors from the Royal Irish Academy of Music visited us during the last few months to help us prepare for our performance on stage at the National Concert Hall. Thanks to everyone who supported us especially Fingal County Council through the Musician in Residence scheme which helped us to establish and develop our ensemble. It was an amazing experience to perform for our family and friends on one of the most prestigious stages in the country! See our photo gallery with photos from backstage and on stage! Check out the videos. You will be in awe and very proud of our pupils!

'The DIg' at HansfieldYou may remember last year that Draíocht sent us the 'Playground Orchestra'! Well this year they sent us a piece of theatre called 'The Dig'. All our classes attended this entertaining performance.
It told the story of Mac who all his life had wanted to be an Archaeologist, to be an expert in finding things and working out what they mean. If only he could stick to the facts and not get carried away with his highfalutin stories. Mac shares his thougts and ideas with the children and the fun begins.... Thank you to Draíoct for their contribution to our school! 15/3/2023
Céilí with a differenceWhat a better way to celebrate Lá Glas ar scoil than with a céilí sa halla!! This was a céilí with a twist and the children danced and enjoyed the music in their own unique way. We had two céilí, one for Junior Infants to 2nd Class and another for 3rd to 6th Class. Do check out our videos. Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhuit!

Girls4TechOn Wednesday last, girls from 5th Class visited the offices of Mastercard in Sandyford to take part in the girls4tech programme. The girls had the opportunity to play the role of several Mastercard STEM professionals, working on fraud detection, cryptology, algorithms and more.
We hope they discovered that it takes all kinds of interests and skills to pursue a career in STEM and recognise that their skills might lead them to a future STEM career. Mastercard was particularly impressed with our girls' engagement, pertinent questions and behaviour. Well done girls! We were so fortunate to have Niall de Búrca renowned Irish storyteller visit Hansfield on Tuesday, another treat to celebrate World Book Day.
Each group class group attended a storytelling and Niall enthralled with his witty stories and amazing delivery. Laughs and chortles could be heard from the hall all day long. 24/2/2023
